Assigning employees to contracts, NOT to projects

It would be good to get at least one notice when deleting employees from the project overview. In the belief that employees can also be assigned by contract, I have just removed a colleague from a contract in which he does not belong. Result: the complete deployment planning for this employee is gone, without any warning.

Thanks for your message. There is actually a desire from different directions to assign employees to contracts. This would then go beyond time recording. That's why I'm assigning projects to your post. A few more discussion questions about this:
- Is the presentation of bookable times in time recording the only point at which your employee regards contracts as useful?
- Are there reasons why you see employees at contract level, beyond time recording?
- Does allocation to both project and contract make sense? Do you need to assign employees to projects?
- Are there any differences between roles here?
Thank you for your feedback.

Isabel Thank you for your answer. From my point of view, it would be logical if the project managers could also be defined by contract. That may be the case, as construction supervision services, TGA services, outdoor facilities or exhibition planning of a project are sometimes commissioned separately, but are still combined in one project. As a result, there can be different project managers for the assignments - and also different teams... This means that there may be different vacation notifications and - independent deployment planning per contract... In addition, there may then be a role of responsibility that links all contracts together - i.e. responsibility for overall coordination, for example. So this quickly becomes complex, which is why I would absolutely plead for being able to choose between the two behaviours - i.e. having to activate the contract-specific approach first on a project basis.

I agree with Jan Holländer!

Jan Holländer, le Coutre, Luca: Still, the question to both of you again: Can you give a “ranking” for which reasons you would prefer to assign employees to each contract:
- Working time recording
- Deployment planning
- Project managers (and therefore authorizations).

Dear Arne Arne Semmler,
In my opinion, the following order applies:
1- Notifications and access rights (different project managers per contract, etc.)
2- Deployment planning
3- Working time recording
Hope that helps.

Are there any divergent assessments? Thanks for the answer to Jan Holländer!

Arne Semmler Mostly because of time tracking. Unfortunately, it happens more and more often that in a project with a lot of contracts, employees accidentally click on the wrong contract and write their hours there... because LP 3 can be in every contract, for example...

It would probably be good to be able to choose/activate the project method.

Jan Holländer yes would be great.
